Principal's Message
Dear La Verne Elementary School Families and Guardians,
Welcome back to another exciting and promising school year at La Verne Science & Technology Charter! I am thrilled to begin my second year as your principal and look forward to another amazing year filled with learning, growth, and celebration.
This year, we are eagerly launching our integrated Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) system, which will be supported by our ongoing commitment to Conscious Discipline and Leader In Me initiatives. Through this integrated approach, we will be celebrating the successes of our students and recognizing their hard work in reflecting the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, as well as our PBIS expectations: Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible.
Our school community will continue to embrace the PUSD CARES initiative, which is our commitment to a Culturally Responsive, Anti-Racism, Equitable System. By working together, we aim to build a nurturing and inclusive environment for all our students.
We are excited to introduce new programs and offerings at La Verne. Our fifth-grade Lions will have the opportunity to participate in the Conga Kids dance program. In addition to expanding our visual and performing arts options by adding a choir alongside our existing instrumental music program, we will continue to offer various clubs of interest, including science, broadcast, math, and more. These activities are designed to engage and enrich our students’ educational experiences.
Attendance continues to be crucial for maximizing instructional time. We will be implementing a school-wide Universal Access Time in the morning to support the diverse needs of our students. Ensuring that your child arrives on time will help us make the most of each instructional day.
On Friday, August 9th, incoming Kindergarten students are invited to join us for a
meet-and-greet with our Kindergarten teachers at 3:30 PM in the Kinder classrooms.
On Monday, August 12th, incoming 1st - 6th grade students are invited to join us for a
meet-and-greet with your classroom teacher. Class lists will be posted at 3:00 PM on the fence at the front of the school.
On the first day of school, you are welcome to accompany your child to the front gate. There will be various photo opportunity stations at the front of the school for those back-to-school pictures. Come a little early to snap those shots.
Throughout the school year, Monday through Thursday, drop your child off at the curbside in front of the school between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM. On Fridays, drop-off will be between 8:30 and 9:00 AM, and class will begin promptly at 9:00 AM on Late Start Fridays.
I am excited to work with all of you as we create an environment that fosters both academic and behavioral success, ensuring every student thrives in their educational journey. Together, let’s make this year at La Verne Charter one of the best yet! Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Let’s have a fantastic year ahead!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Costley La Verne Science & Technology Charter Principal
